Las Vegas Metro Police Homicide Detective Jarrod Grimmett's daughter had a relationship with Shane Valentine, a convicted felon and long-time Las Vegas pimp, who was a suspect in the 2016 murders of Sydney Land and Nehemiah Kauffman. Grimmett remained on the case and spoke about the case to family members according to information received by Connie Land, Sydney's mother.

Clark County, Nevada Sheriff Joe Lombardo who runs the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department now says that October 1, 2017, Las Vegas Massacre gunman, Stephen Paddock, committed suicide as police were attempting entry into his 32nd floor Mandalay Bay Hotel suite, according to a November 2021 newspaper article.
