Clark County, Nevada Sheriff Joe Lombardo who runs the LVMPD and his then Undersheriff, Kevin McMahill, were not transparent and forthcoming with the public, and in doing so made Officer Hendrex out to be the only LVMPD officer whose actions were questionable that night, which is not true, according to police sources.

The double homicide is unsolved to this day. Allegations involving Las Vegas Metro Police corruption, negligence, incompetence and a cover-up have surrounded the criminal investigation of this unsolved double murder. For almost six years Connie Land, Sydney's mother, fought relentlessly to get justice for her daughter up until her death on August 10.
