In 1991 and again in 1992 while I was a criminal investigator with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, Virginia I testified under oath that then Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney William Burch and then Sheriff's Captain Vernon Beamer withheld exculpatory evidence in the 1988 trial of William Douglas Carter who was charged with the attempted murder of his wife. After Carter was granted a new trial and released from prison in February 1992 based on my testimony and that of corroborating witnesses, I was suspended and then fired by then Sheriff John R. Isom.
