AFTER REPORTING LVMPD HOMICIDE COPS DIDN'T INVESTIGATE DEATH OF PADDOCK, IAB WANTED MY SOURCES

Sunday July 16, 2023. On October 25, 2017, I broke the story that the death of Las Vegas Massacre gunman, Stephen Paddock, would normally be investigated by detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's (LVMPD) Homicide Division. I reported that I was told by a retired police official that the investigation was pulled from homicide detectives and given to the department’s Force Investigation Team, that was commanded at the time by then Captain Kelly McMahill, who was the wife of then Clark County Undersheriff Kevin McMahill. After that story was published, I was contacted by a detective from the LVMPD Internal Affairs Bureau who wanted to know my sources for the story.
